Half

Today I turned 6 months old. Imagine! It's pretty exciting heading into my second half year. I can confirm though that this hasn't changed my opinion on food - I say again that I do NOT care for pear (Mummy and Daddy must have been unclear on this point) and also I do not like banana. In fact, I am not prepared to eat anything that comes towards me on the spoon, and clamp my lips tightly shut to stop anything getting into my mouth.

We went to the bocce club to celebrate my birthday. I thought bocce was a great idea but it turned out we were actually there to go to the hall and have my 6-month immunizations done. Rats! I tried my best to hide by pulling my sleeping bag over my head, but Mummy seemed to know I was there. Maybe next time I shouldn't pull my sock off and then stick my foot out at her. The immunizations weren't that bad, anyway. I only had to have two injections this time (it's been three the other times) and I was very brave and only cried a little bit. When the nurse commented on how tall I was I did try to give her a smile but I was a bit sore. I guess immunizations are how one celebrates a half birthday though, because my friend from Mother's Group who has the same birthday that I do was there as well. It was nice to sit with her afterwards while we both had a snack.

So what's changed now that I'm 6 months old? My mullet is pretty much gone at the back, but my hair is starting to grow on the top. My skin is looking much better now that I get gooped regularly with the heavy duty moisturiser (although I do still scratch). I'm noticing much more about my environment. For example, did you know my family includes Harry the cat? Huh! Often we hang out together in the evenings in the kitchen (me in my chair, him on his post) and I watch him while Mummy makes dinner. I will reach out to take a toy if it is offered and then move it straight to my mouth for evaluation - and I reach for things that AREN'T offered too (like the newspaper, or Mummy's hair and glasses). I love having stories read to me. I watch the pictures closely and try to hold on to the pages. My favourite books are Drummer Hoff and Where is the green sheep? because they have funny rhymes that make me GIGGLE! I'm very alert and aware and busy taking in everything around me. And best of all, I have Mummy and Daddy and lots of family and friends who love me very much!

Happy, happy
Joy, joy
on your 1/2 birthday!

You've grown so fast!

Ask mom and dad for a half cake--I bet you'll enjoy that solid food.
