I am currently refusing to go to sleep in Boston, Massachusetts, right near the Harvard gate where I had my photo taken today. A nice person passing by suggested I might be a future student! I've made lots of new friends in the last few days, including a lady in a Hawaiian shirt shop ("bye bye, Happy Baby!"), a carload full of Red-Sox-bandana-wearing, rap-music-listening boys (who pointed at me and grinned "hey baby!" - I gave them a big smile) and two pretty girls walking past (after they passed us, one whispered to the other "That baby was so cute!"). I am trying to smile at everyone I see, and people seem to like that. I've been on three plane rides so far and have enjoyed meeting the flight attendants and watching out the window as we take off and land, but apart from the occasional feed in-flight I prefer to sleep for most of the time - planes seem like nice quiet places where I can have some quality naps. So far, I've seen the ocean, felt some sand (fun to hold, not so much to eat, definitely won't rub it in my eyes again), enjoyed baby lasagna with meat sauce, and sat on the grass in Harvard Yard. Woo hoo!
I didn't have a chance before we left to mention how much I grew in the last 2 months - I put on more than 100 g a week, and now weigh almost 7.8 kg! And I'm now more than 70 cm tall - 70.2 cm, to be exact. Compared to other babies my age, I'm still fairly tall and thin, but I've put on a good amount of weight since my last measurements at 6 months so everyone's pretty happy. I know I am! Anyway, Mummy and Daddy are saying they might take me on another plane ride tomorrow if I stop squirming and go to sleep, so I should get on with that. Being a flying baby is fun!

G'day buddy,
So good you are enjoying being a flying baby and are using that gorgeous smile of your's to charm everyone, those two girls were so right.
Make sure you tell Mummy and Daddy to keep using that new camera.
Love,
pa
Wow Daniel. You are so big now that maybe you will have to have your very own aeroplane to fly home in! I miss you at Baby's Group. No other baby is quite so friendly and I don't like them sucking my toys. Only you're allowed to suck my toys.
