I was really excited to go to the middle of Australia! I loved being the leader on our safari walks – I walked first and looked for clues like arrows to work out which way to go. There were lots of trees and rocks to climb, too.
We climbed a huge red sand dune opposite the Mount Conner lookout. I did some good fake falls into the sand! Then I spotted a footprint from someone that had been wearing Spiderman shoes. The footprints had a cool spiderweb and spider! I found lots of them, and when I followed their trail I ended up at... DAD! He thought we knew he had secret Spiderman shoes, but we didn't at all!
The rocks and sand were great to climb on and touch, especially during boring bits when Mum and Dad were watching the sunset. BOR-ING! But better if you compete with your brother to see who can make their hands the reddest (for example, at Kata Tjuta).
Drawing in the sand with sticks was another good activity for boring sunset times. Here at Kings Canyon I did lots of lines, then made a big pile of sand and stuck my stick in the middle of it. I was pretty pleased with my work!
